Our Journey

Great Heights Academy Trust was founded on the belief that meaningful collaboration has the power to transform education. Over the years, we’ve expanded thoughtfully and sustainably, always guided by our values and a strong moral purpose.

Great Heights Academy Trust began its journey as The Greetland Academy, a highly successful primary school in Calderdale, West Yorkshire. Recognised for its strong leadership, outstanding teaching and consistently high pupil outcomes, Greetland became a beacon of excellence within the region. With a deep commitment to collaboration, school improvement and sharing best practice, the school took its first steps towards supporting others by sponsoring schools in need of improvement.

What began as a small partnership of like-minded schools has grown into a thriving, values-led Trust comprising six primary schools, one junior school and two secondary schools, including a sixth-form. From early years through to post-16, we are building a cohesive 2-18 learning journey that supports pupils at every stage of their development – academically, socially, and emotionally.

Meaningful collaboration

We believe that sustained improvement happens when professionals work together with openness and purpose. Across our schools, leaders, teachers and support staff engage in meaningful collaboration – sharing best practice, developing talent, and continually raising expectations. This collective approach ensures that every child, in every classroom, receives the high-quality education they deserve.

In addition to our family of schools, we hold several national designations that reflect our commitment to sector-wide improvement:

From school improvement to system leadership, we are proud of the impact we’ve made – and excited about the future we are building together.
